3D Modeling
-And So It BEGINS!!!
I want you to go to digital tutors and begin watching the video series: Quick Start to Modeling: Vol 1
-You will need to bring headphones to class in order to re-watch the videos over and over… which I'm sure we all will. Follow along with the video. As a class I recommend that you have one computer open to the video and everyone have Maya open. Pause the video when they show new tools and find them in Maya… This is really when you all want to start taking notes. I WILL GIVE EXTRA CREDIT TO THOSE THAT TAKE NOTES!!! I would like to see a finished solar panel by the time I get back Wednesday. Also as a class please take the test when you are done watching all the videos.
If you have any questions please email me.

[Watch a Video]
You may stay in class today and sculpt at your desk and watch these videos on Sculpting, well these are actually videos that show you how 3d can be used to create amazing toys and models and along the way you may get some ideas. I looked for some good skull sculpting videos and could not find any that were not creepy or helpful, so I hope you enjoy this inside look at one of the best toy/model design companies. See if they help with your skulls. Good luck and see you on Friday... HOPEFULLY, I won't get picked for Jury duty.
Guess what we are doing next :)

[3 Point Turnaround]
Working in video games and animation is a team effort. Many times a piece of art is going to go through many people before it is finalized on screen. Before a modeler gets their hands on a design it has to go through a 2 deminsial drawing process known as the turnaround. It can be either a 3 point turnaround or a 5 point turnaround. The turnaround in basic terms is a character drawn from different angles or points of view.
3 Point Turnaround: Three lined up drawings that show a characer in a Front Facing, Quarter Facing, and Side Facing poses.
5 Point Turnaround: Five lined up drawings that show a character in a Front Facing, Quarter Facing, Side Facing, Back Quarter Facing, and Back Facing poses.
Before we start on a clay model it is a good idea to create a turnaround sheet of whatever design you are making.
